HWL presents Golden Ticket (11/10/19)

Pyros light up the Sprint Center in Kansas City as we welcome you live to HWL presents Golden Ticket, available tonight only on Pay Per View. Tonight, all four championships are on the line and we get one round closer to finding out who will challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship at the final Pay Per View of the year, Starrcade, next month because all four quarterfinal matches of the World Heavyweight Road to Starrcade Tournament take place tonight.

The first quarterfinal matchup is up first as Austin Aries and R-Truth make their entrances.

Match #1 – Road to Starrcade Heavyweight Quarterfinal – Austin Aries vs. R-Truth

Aries and Truth square off as the match gets under way and Truth drives Aries back against the ropes with a series of big right hands and connects with an Upper Cut that lifts Aries out over the top rope and out to the ring apron. Truth then takes Aries by the back of the head and tries to ram him head first into the ring post, but Aries blocks it and slams Truth face first into the turnbuckle.  Aries then Sunset Flips in over the top rope into a pinning combination, but Truth kicks out for a near fall. Aries drives Truth back against the corner with a couple of Knee Strikes and then tries to whip Truth across the ring into the opposite corner, but Truth blocks it and counters into a Facebreaker.  Truth then follows up with a Snap Suplex and then rolls out to the floor and pulls Aries out with him before whipping Aries shoulder first into the ring steps. Truth then goes for the cover out on the floor, but the referee doesn’t’ make the count and instructs Truth that he has to put Aries back in the ring. Truth then argues with the referee and covers Aries again and makes the three count himself when the referee won’t. Truth then holds his arms up and dances around the ring celebrating and the referee has to insist that no, he didn’t win. Aries then comes up behind Truth and shoves him into the ring post head first.  Aries then throws Truth back into the ring and then comes up on the ring apron and propels himself over the top rope and back into the ring with an Elbow Drop to the back of Truth’s neck.  Aries then drags Truth up to his feet and to the center of the ring and connects with a Brainbuster and makes the cover for the three count.

Aries moves on to the semifinals and in the back we see Kyle O’Reilly and the rest of the Undisputed Era watching on a monitor. O’Reilly will challenge Aries for the Cruiserweight title later tonight. O’Reilly says that predictably, Truth was trying to wrestle a match that only he understood was going on instead of the match everyone in this reality was aware of. O’Reilly says Aries has picked on low-hanging fruit and confused morons like that ever since the HWL opened its doors and the only reason he’s been able to control the cruiserweight division is because he’s had his sights set higher on the Tag Team Titles and on freeing the HWL from these Suicide invaders. However, O’Reilly says those are off the table for him right now. Those responsibilities are on someone else, freeing him to finally pry the cruiserweight division away from his undeserving hands.

Re: HWL presents Golden Ticket (11/10/19)

Back at ringside, it’s time for our first title match of the night as Jay and Mark Briscoe and The Suicides make their entrances for this tag team title match.

Match #2 – HWL Tag Team Championship – The Suicides vs. The Briscoes

Mark and one of the Suicides start things off and Mark connects with some stinging jabs and then goes for some Redneck Kung Fu with a Crane Kick, but Suicide ducks under it and rolls Mark up for a near fall.  Suicide then connects with an Enziguri and sets up for a Brainbuster, but Mark blocks it and drives Suicide back against the corner and delivers a flurry of punches to the mid-section. Mark then makes the tag to Jay and the Briscoes connect with a Double Suplex. Jay then puts the boots to Suicide and then bounces off the ropes and goes for a Running Knee Lift, but Suicide sidesteps and connects with a Leaping Neckbreaker.  Suicide then makes the tag to Suicide and the fresh Suicide springboards in and connects with a Guillotine Leg Drop. Suicide then pounds on Jay and tries to hook in a Figure Four Leglock, but Jay kicks him backward into the corner.  Jay then charges in and connects with an Avalanche Splash and follows up with a Sidewalk Slam.  Jay then tags in Mark and Mark comes in and connects with a Running Dropkick to the side of the head.  Mark then sets up for a Package Piledriver, but Suicide fights free and connects with a Back Body Drop.  Suicide then makes a tag and the Suicides connect with a Backbreaker combination into a Rolling Cutter. The legal Suicide then hits Jay in the knee with a Dropkick, knocking him off the ring apron. Suicide then covers Mark, but Mark kicks out for a near fall. Suicide puts the boots to Mark and then heads up to the top turnbuckle, but Mark gets back to his feet and charges to the corner. However, Suicide jumps over him and lands on his feet on the mat, but then turns and runs in to a Superkick from Mark. Mark then calls for the Froggy ‘Bow and heads up to the top turnbuckle, but the other Suicide comes over and shoves him off the top and Mark crashes down onto the ring apron and out to the floor.  Jay then pulls the non-legal Suicide off the ring apron and slams him head first into the barricade multiple times and connects with the Jay Driller on the floor. The legal Suicide then catapults himself out over the top rope and takes Jay down out on the floor with a Flying Crossbody. Suicide then turns around in time to catch a Crane Kick form Mark.  Mark then throws Suicide back into the ring and rolls in after him. Mark kicks Suicide in the gut as both men get back to their feet and then follows up with a Package Piledriver and makes the cover, but Suicide kicks out for a near fall. Mark then puts the boots to Suicide and then follows up with a Brainbuster and makes the tag to Jay, who is now back up on the ring apron. Jay then comes in and hoists Suicide up as Mark goes up top for the Doomsday Device, but Suicide slips out of Jay’s grip and down the back into a pinning combination, but Jay kicks out. Mark then nails Suicide with a Missile Dropkick, but then the other Suicide pulls Mark out by the boot and connects with an Impaler DDT on the floor. Suicide then rolls into the ring and the two Suicides set up for a combination move on Jay, but Jay powers out and knocks one down with a Short-arm Clothesline and we can’t tell which Suicide is legal any more.  Jay kicks the one left standing in the gut and then propels him headlong into the other one and one of the Suicides crashes through the ropes and out to the floor as the one left in the ring stumbles back into a Jay Driller and Mark comes back in off the top rope and connects with a Froggy ‘Bow and Jay covers Suicide and scores the three count.

The Briscoes are your winners and the NEW Tag Team Champions, unseating the two Suicides for the titles. Jay then says he wants to get their masks and Jay and Mark go back to the Suicide they pinned for the titles, but as they reach down toward his head, the lights go out and when they come back on, the Briscoes are all alone in the ring and the Suicides have escaped. In the back, our broadcast colleague is standing by with Nikki Cross, who will only repeat three words, “Want title back.” Cross gets a shot at the woman who took the title away from her, Bayley, later on tonight.

Re: HWL presents Golden Ticket (11/10/19)

Back at ringside, it’s time for our next title match as Brian Cage starts to make his way to the ring, but as he’s coming down the ramp and about to reach the ring, Elias comes charging out behind him and smashes a guitar over the back of his head. Elias then throws Cage into the ring and quickly gets in himself and orders the referee to start the match.

Match #3 – Road to Starrcade Heavyweight Quarterfinal – Brian Cage vs. Elias

The referee is reluctant to start the match as Cage struggles to pull himself up in his corner and can barely hold himself up after likely being concussed by that guitar shot, but he angrily glares across the ring at Elias and the referee calls for the bell. Elias charges in and pummels Cage with some Double Ax-handle blows in the corner. Cage then smashes Elias in the gut and then knocks him flat with a Headbutt, which was clearly a mistake as it did more harm to Cage than it did Elias and Cage is down on one knee trying to shake out the cobwebs as Elias pops back up and hits him with a Running Boot to the side of the head. Elias then follows up with the Drift Away and covers Cage for the three count.

Elias advances to the semifinals of the tournament and half of the semifinals are set with both Elias and Austin Aries moving on to the penultimate round as our broadcasters take a look at the brackets so far.

Re: HWL presents Golden Ticket (11/10/19)

Back at the ring, another Road to Starrcade Tournament match is coming up as Kevin Owens and Adam Cole make their entrances.

Match #4 – Road to Starrcade Heavyweight Quarterfinal – Adam Cole vs. Kevin Owens

The two men square off as the match gets under way and Cole charges right at Owens, but Owens catches him coming and throws him up for a Pop-up Powerbomb, but Cole counters into a Hurricanranna. Cole then follows up with a Superkick with Owens down on one knee and then dives into the cover, but Owens kicks out for a near fall. Cole then goes for the cover again, but Owens quickly kicks out again. Cole then drags Owens back up and springboards off the ropes and goes for a Flying Roundhouse Kick, but Owens ducks out of the way and Cole lands on his feet. Owens nails Cole with a Thrust Kick to the gut and then bounces off the ropes and runs into another Superkick from Cole. Cole bounces off the ropes and hits Owens with a Diving Shoulder Block to the knee, taking his leg out from under Owens and flipping him through the air. Owens then struggles to try to get back up, but can’t manage to get both feet under him and drops back down to one knee as Cole delivers the Last Shot and covers him for the three count.

Cole is the third piece of the puzzle as we again look at the brackets for the heavyweight Road to Starrcade Tournament. In the back we see a split screen of Women’s Champion Bayley and Nikki Cross going through their final preparations. Their match is coming up next and a video package replays the highlights of Nikki Cross’s run as Women’s champion and the night she lost the title to Bayley at Fall Brawl.

Re: HWL presents Golden Ticket (11/10/19)

As the video ends, Nikki Cross and Bayley make their entrances for this next contest.

Match #5 – HWL Women’s World Championship – Bayley vs. Nikki Cross

The two women square off as the match gets under way and Cross charges Bayley, flailing and swinging her arms wildly as Bayley retreats into the corner and sticks her head out through the ropes to prompt the referee to try to get Cross off her. Cross boxes out the referee and with Bayley sticking her head out through the ropes, her ample bottom is defenseless as Cross gives that a good smack, prompting Bayley to indignantly stick her head up and catch a Crossface Forearm shot from Cross and Bayley drops out to the ring apron and down to the floor to retreat and gather herself. Cross slips out under the bottom rope and sneaks around Bayley to deliver a Greco-Roman Kick in the Ass, knocking Bayley flat on her face out on the floor. Cross then scrambles up onto the ring apron and jumps down to the floor with a Double Footstomp into Bayley’s back.  Cross then drags Bayley back up by the tights and pitches her back into the ring. Bayley stumbles back up and Cross knocks her flat with a Discus Clothesline and goes for the cover, but Bayley kicks out for a near fall. Cross mounts Bayley and pins her arms at her sides as he smacks her repeatedly about the face and then transitions into an Armbar, but Bayley ties herself up in the ropes to force a break. As Bayley uses the ropes to pull herself back up, Cross charges back over, but Bayley catches her coming with an Elbow Smash to the side of the head. Bayley then follows up with a Gutwrench Suplex and an Atomic Leg Drop and makes the cover, but Cross kicks out.  Bayley then drags Cross up by the waistline of her pants and flings her through the ropes in the corner, sending Cross crashing shoulder first into the ring post. Bayley then steps out through the ropes to the ring apron and charges to connect with a Running Knee Smash to the side of the head, driving the other side of Cross’s head into the ring post. Bayley then climbs back in and quickly rolls Cross up, hooking her fingers into Cross’s back pocket for extra leverage, but Cross still manages to kick out for a near fall. Bayley then pounds the mat in frustration and then drags Cross up by the hair and Cross spits in her eyes. Disgusted, Bayley turns away and tries to wipe away the unsavory fluid from her face. When she turns back to Cross, Cross kicks her in the gut and drives the top of her head into the mat with a DDT. Cross then reaches into her back pocket and pulls out one of Bayley’s old hair bands and uses it to tie Bayley’s hands behind her back as the referee admonishes her. Bayley is now unable to defend herself as Cross kicks her in the side of the head multiple times. Bayley finally, defiantly, struggles up to her knees and tells Cross to go to hell and Cross responds with a Running Knee Smash to the face. Cross then drags Bayley limply up to her feet by the hair with Bayley’s arms still tied behind her back as Cross finishes her off with a Fisherman’s Neckbreaker and covers her for the three count.

Nikki Cross is your winner and the NEW Women’s World Champion as she celebrates being reunited with her favorite shiny toy and greedily snatches the titles out of the referee’s hands. In the back, The Briscoes are having a few beers to celebrate their title win. Jay says they tried to tell ‘em ‘bout Dem Boys, that Dem Boys was coming, that Dem Boys was going to whoop that ass, but they didn’t want to believe. Jay says Dem Boys took those titles, snatched ‘em right up, because that’s what they do. Dem Boys work all week and then on the weekend Dem Boys whoop ass and they take what they want. Deal with it.

Re: HWL presents Golden Ticket (11/10/19)

Back at the ring, Hangman Page and Tommaso Ciampa make their entrances for this next contest, our final Road to Starrcade Tournament match of the night.

Match #6 – Road to Starrcade Heavyweight Quarterfinal – Hangman Page vs. Tommaso Ciampa

The two men tie-up as the match gets under way and Page drops down into an Armdrag, flipping Ciampa over him. Page then plants his knee in Ciampa’s back and applies a Reverse Chinlock with Ciampa in a seated position. Ciampa slowly battles back up to his feet and connects with a series of Elbow Strikes to the mid-section. Ciampa then shoves Page off into the ropes and knocks him flat with a Shoulder Block.  Ciampa then follows up with a Running Dropkick to the side of the head and then slowly drags Page back up and sets up for a Cactus Piledriver, but Page counters into a Back Body Drop. Page then drives Ciampa back against the corner with a flurry of Knife-edge Chops and then Monkey Flips him across the ring. Ciampa stumbles back up to his feet and Page hits him with a Discus Clothesline. Page then rolls out under the bottom rope to the ring apron and lets Ciampa slowly pull himself back up to his feet and Page flips in over the top rope and goes for the Buckshot Lariat, but Ciampa ducks and connects with a Reverse DDT into a Backbreaker and then a Rolling Cutter. Ciampa then calls for the finish and sets up for the Fairy-Tale Ending, but Page fights out of it and shoves Ciampa back against the ropes and goes for a Superkick, but Ciampa ducks out of the way and Page’s momentum carries one leg out over the top rope where he gets hung up. Ciampa then holds Page in place and takes the Cowboy for an uncomfortable horsey ride as he bounces him up and down on the top rope. Ciampa then flings Page back into the ring and then follows up with a Running Knee Lift and a Double-arm DDT. Ciampa then makes the cover, but Page kicks out for a near fall. Ciampa scratches at Page’s face as he yells at him to stay down and then he slowly drags Page back up, but Page shoves him away and nails him with a Superkick. Page then sets up for the Deadshot, but Ciampa tackles him backward into the corner and then Headbutts Page square on the chin. Ciampa then connects with the Fairy-Tale Ending and covers him for the three count.

The stage for the semifinals is complete with Ciampa advancing along with Elias, Austin Aries and Adam Cole to the final four of the heavyweight Road to Starrcade tournament. But the night isn’t over for Aries though. In the back, we see a split screen of Aries and O’Reilly making their final preparations for our next title match. A video package then highlights Aries’ run through the cruiserweight division.

Back at ringside, Kyle O’Reilly and Austin Aries make their entrances for this next match for the cruiserweight championship.

Match #7 – HWL Cruiserweight Championship – Austin Aries vs. Kyle O’Reilly

The two men square off and O’Reilly connects with a flurry of kicks. He then whips Aries off into the ropes and connects with a Spinning Heel Kick and goes for the cover, but Aries quickly kicks out. O’Reilly pummels Aries and then drags him back up, but Aries pokes him in the eye and pins him in an Inside Cradle, but O’Reilly kicks out. Aries then kicks O’Reilly in the gut and sets up for a Brainbuster, but O’Reilly battles out of it on the way up with a series of Knee Strikes to the top of the head. O’Reilly then follows up with a Gutrwrench into a Turnbuckle Powerbomb, slamming the middle of Aries’ back into the top turnbuckle. O’Reilly then follows up with a Snapmere, flipping Aries over into a seated position and then drilling him with a Buzzsaw Kick square between the shoulder blades. O’Reilly then tries to lock in the ARMageddon submission hold, but Aries ties himself up in the ropes to force a break before he can get it locked in. O’Reilly then kicks Aries in the nose a couple of times, bloodying up his face. O’Reilly drags Aries back away from the ropes and tries for the ARMageddon again, but Aries trips him up and hooks in a Knee Bar. O’Reilly now struggles to the ropes to break the hold and Aries obliges, but then wraps O’Reilly’s knee up in the bottom rope and stomps on it a couple of times. The referee then forces Aries back and manages to untangle O’Reilly from the ropes. O’Reilly slowly gets back up, testing his weight on the knee and Aries kicks him in the back of the knee, sweeping it back out from under him. Aries then follows up with a Knee Drop across the skull and then drags O’Reilly to the middle of the ring and sets up for a Brainbuster, but O’Reilly fires back with a flurry of punches to the midsection. O’Reilly then whips Aries into the corner and follows him in with a Flying Knee Smash to the face and then a Running Bulldog. O’Reilly then tries for the ARMageddon again, but Aries shoves him off into the referee, knocking the referee down and hits O’Reilly with a Low Blow. Aries then pulls the top turnbuckle pad off in one of the corner and then drags O’Reilly back up and tries to slam him face first into the exposed steal, but O’Reilly blocks it and Elbows Aries in the gut. O’Reilly then follows up with a Snap Suplex and then a Running Dropkick. He then locks Aries in the ARMageddon and Aries is tapping out, but the referee is down and out. O’Reilly then breaks the hold and goes over to shake the referee and the ref starts to come around. O’Reilly then goes back to Aries and Aries kicks him in the knee and O’Reilly stumbles back to the corner.  Aries then gets up and charges after him and O’Reilly catches him coming with a Flapjack that drives Aries down face first into the steel turnbuckle he exposed earlier in the match.  With Aries down and out, O’Reilly slowly rolls over into a cover as the referee crawls into position and makes the three count.

Kyle O’Reilly is your winner and the NEW Cruiserweight Champion as a championship changes hands for the third time tonight. In the back, we see Bully Ray preparing to defend his World Heavyweight Championship coming up next in our Main Event. A video package then replays the highlights of the night.

Re: HWL presents Golden Ticket (11/10/19)

Back at the ring, Bully Ray and Suicide make their entrances for our Main Event and our ring announcer goes through special in-ring introductions.

Match #8 – HWL World Heavyweight Championship – Bully Ray vs. Suicide

The two men square off as the match gets under way and Bully connects with a flurry of jabs and then knocks Suicide flat with a Bionic Elbow and Suicide rolls out to the floor and rolls under the ring. Bully Ray looks confused and goes out after him and Suicide rolls out the other side of the ring and nails Bully with a Chop Block to the back of the knee and then follows up with a Swinging Neckbreaker. Bully slowly pulls himself back up and Suicide kicks him in the gut and slams him head first into the ring apron and rolls him back into the ring.  Suicide then heads up to the top rope as Bully stumbles back up to his feet and Suicide connects with a Guillotine Leg Drop across the back of the head, driving him back down to the mat. Suicide then follows up with an Asai Moonsault and makes the cover, but Bully kicks out for a near fall. Suicide stays on the offensive with some Double Ax-handle Shots and Knee Strikes to the ribs. Suicide then tries to pull Bully back up, but Bully punches him in the gut and then knocks him flat with a Mafia Kick.  Bully then makes the cover, but Suicide kicks out.  Bully then puts the boots to Suicide and then bounces off the ropes and goes for a Leaping Elbow Drop, but Suicide rolls out of the way and Bully crashes to the mat. Suicide then tries to turn Bully over into a Boston Crab, but Bully kicks him back into the corner. Bully then charges in and hits an Avalanche Splash in the corner and follows up with a Bully Bomb, but Suicide is able to roll under the bottom rope and out to the floor where he goes under the ring again. Bully rolls out after him and is able to catch Suicide by the boot before he can disappear completely under the ring. Bully then pulls Suicide back out and Suicide pops him in the jaw with an Upper Cut and then crawls back under the ring. Bully lifts up the apron looking for him and then he goes under the ring too and we have no idea what is going on. Bully Ray then emerges from under the ring and he seems to have had something sprayed in his eyes as he crawls around temporarily blinded out on the floor. Suicide then crawls out after him as Bully gets to his feet and Suicide shoves him headlong into the ring post and then rolls him back into the ring. Suicide then goes up to the top rope and follows up with a Diving Elbow Drop, Macho Man style and makes the cover, but Bully kicks out for an exceptionally close near fall. Suicide drags Bully back up and Bully swings wildly, but can’t connect as his vision is still blurry. Suicide then kicks him in the gut and pulls him over to the corner where he hops up to the middle turnbuckle and then hits Bully with a Tornado DDT.  Suicide then hustles back up to the top rope and then connects with a Corkscrew Senton into the cover and he gets the three count.

Damn it, a couple of HWL guys finally pried the tag team titles away from this guy and his cohort only for him to sink his claws into a new prize as Suicide is the winner and NEW World Heavyweight Champion. Suicide then exits up the rampway where the other Suicide emerges from backstage and the two celebrate together as Golden Ticket comes to a close. Join us this Wednesday on Overdrive to find out just what in the hell is going to happen next. Thanks for joining us and good night.
