HWL Overdrive Episode #13 (09/25/19)

Pyros light up the HWL Arena in St. Louis as we kick off this week’s edition of Overdrive and just days after beating the Undisputed Era for the Tag Team Titles at Fall Brawl, the mysterious Suicide and his tag team partner, another Suicide, are putting the titles on the line against War Machine. However, first we have a special treat for you with a rare appearance from The Undertaker.

Tomasso Ciampa, accompanied by Shayna Baszler, and The Undertaker make their entrances for this first contest.

Match #1 – Tomasso Ciampa vs. The Undertaker

The two men square off as the match gets under way and Undertaker goes to work with a series of jabs, driving Ciampa back against the ropes. Undertaker then whips Ciampa off into the ropes and connects with a Big Boot to the face and then follows up with a Leaping Elbow Drop. Ciampa stumbles up to his feet over near the ropes and Undertaker Clotheslines him out over the top and out to the floor. Undertaker rolls out after Ciampa and starts to pull him back to his feet, but Ciampa fires back with a flurry of punches to the mid-section and tackles Undertaker backward, driving his lower back into the side of the ring.  Ciampa then connects with an Impaler DDT out on the floor. Ciampa then celebrates with Baszler and fails to see Undertaker sit up behind him. Undertaker then grabs Ciampa by the back of the head and drives him face first into the ring apron and then rolls him back into the ring.  Undertaker then climbs in Ciampa tries to beg off from his knees, but Undertaker reaches down and grabs Ciampa by the throat, dragging him back up to his feet and delivering a Chokeslam in the middle of the ring. Undertaker then makes the cover, but Baszler reaches in and grabs the referee by the arm, stopping him from making the count. The referee then orders Shayna to leave, but that’s not good enough for Undertaker who rolls out to the floor and pursues Shayna over to the german announce table and proceeds to goozle her and Chokeslam her through the table.  Undertaker then turns back to the ring and Ciampa dives out to the floor, nailing Undertaker with a Suicide Dive. Ciampa puts the boots to Undertaker and then connects with a Piledriver on the floor.  Ciampa now rolls Undertaker’s dead weight back in the ring and climbs up to the top turnbuckle as Undertaker sits up and climbs back up to his feet. Ciampa then dives off at Undertaker, but Undertaker thrusts an open palm up and into Ciampa’s chin in mid-air. Undertaker then grabs Ciampa by the arm and twists it around as he heads up to the top turnbuckle and walks out across the top rope to go Old School before jumping off and clubbing Ciampa over the head. Undertaker then finishes Ciampa off with the Tombstone Piledriver and picks up the victory.

Undertaker picks up the win in his first ever Overdrive match and the HWL audience looks on in admiration as the Deadman makes his way to the back and we take you to a word from our sponsors.

Back from the break, the B Team and Private Party make their way to the ring for this next contest, but before the match gets under way, Adam Cole, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly hit the ring and take out both teams with steel chairs. Cole promises that this will be only the beginning until they get what they want and this Tag Team Championship match tonight between Suicide and the Viking Raiders will not be happening. The lights then go out and we hear two separate chair shots. When the lights come back on the tag team champions are in the ring and Fish and O’Reilly are both down and out after those chair shots we heard in the dark. Facing 2-on-1 numbers, Cole drops his chair and retreats up the rampway, but his retreat is cut off as War Machine, Hanson and Ray Rowe, emerge from the back and start making their way to the ring.  Cole tries to make a break for it and run past them, but Rowe stops him with a big Clothesline.  War Machine then tosses Cole up in to the air and drive him into the rampway with the Viking Experience. Security then makes their way out and helps the Undisputed Era to the back. We are going to take you now to another word from our sponsors. When we come back, it’s Main Event time.

Back from the break, the champions and challengers are ready and it’s time for the Main Event.

Match #3 – HWL Tag Team Championship – Suicide & Suicide vs. War Machine

Rowe starts off against one of the Suicides, we’ll call him Suicide 1, as the match gets under way. Rowe gets the upper hand early and drives Suicide down to his knees and connects with a Knee Smash to the face. Rowe then makes the quick cover, but Suicide kicks out.  Rowe then tries to follow up with a Running Back Senton, but Suicide gets his knees up.  Suicide then connects with a Running Dropkick to the side of the head and then bounces off the ropes and hits the Seth Rollins’ Stomp.  Suicide 1 then makes the tag to Suicide 2 and then hits Rowe with a Backbreaker, holding him in place as Suicide 2 somersaults in over the top rope into a Gullotine Leg Drop and makes the cover, but Rowe powers out for a two count. Suicide 2 then hammers Rowe with a series of Double Axe-handle shots to the back of the neck and sets up for a Vertical Suplex, but Rowe blocks it and fires back with a furious flurry of punches to the mid-section.  Rowe then sends Suicide off into the ropes and connects with a Spinning Heel Kick.  Rowe then makes the tag to Hanson and Hanson comes in off the top rope and connects with a Moonsault. Hanson forgoes the cover, instead dragging Suicide up into a Gorilla Press and then dropping him into a Thunderous Powerslam. Hanson then makes the cover, but Suicide 1 breaks it up. Rowe then comes in after Suicide 1, but Suicide 1 catches him coming with a Thrust Kick to the gut. Suicide 1 then ducks a Discus Clothesline from Hanson and Dropkicks him in the back, knocking him into Rowe and Rowe is knocked down and out of the ring. Meanwhile, Suicide 2 has dropped out to the floor to regroup. Suicide 1 rolls Hanson up from behind, but he’s not the legal man and the referee refuses to count. Suicide 1 then springs off the ropes and goes for an Asai Moonsault to a standing Hanson, but Hanson catches him and connects with a Running Powerslam. Hanson then heads up to the top turnbuckle and connects with a Diving Headbutt. Rowe then gathers himself and goes around after Suicide 2, the legal Suicide and throws him back in the ring. Hanson then sets up for a Powerbomb, but Suicide seems to have been playing opossum as he trips up Hanson and rolls through into the pinning combination and catches Hanson off guard for the three count.

The Suicides pull out the win in their first title defense, turning back the challenge of the Vikings as they celebrate out on the rampway and Hanson and Rowe kick around the ring in frustration. Who is going to be able to solve this Suicide ordeal and finally get some answers? We’ll have to wait for another week to find out as we are out of time tonight. Join us again next week as we get closer to Halloween Havoc. Will we see any of the War Games victors get their shot at the World Heavyweight or Women’s World Championships next week? Tune in then to find out. Thanks for joining us.
