HWL presents Fall Brawl (09/20/19)

Pyros light up the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, as we’re coming to you live tonight from the Pacific Northwest as HWL presents Fall Brawl, available only on Pay Per View. Tonight, eight men and eight women will do battle in two separate War Games matches. All four HWL championships will be defended and we’re starting things off with Austin Aries and his quest to regain the Cruiserweight Championship as he and the champion Tony Nese each make their entrances for our opening match.

Match #1 – HWL Cruiserweight Championship – Tony Nese vs. Austin Aries

The two men square off as the match gets under way and Nese and Aries engage in a Greco-Roman Knuckle-lock, but when Nese starts to get the upper hand, Aries kicks him in the gut. Aries then smashes Nese in the face with an Elbow and then bounces off the ropes and connects with a Running Knee Smash to the gut, flipping Nese through the air and sending him crashing to the mat. Aries then delivers a rapid series of Elbow Drops to the chest and makes the cover, but Nese kicks out for a near fall.  Aries then drags Nese back to his feet and slams him face first into the turnbuckle in the corner. Aries then climbs up to the middle turnbuckle and sets up for a Tornado DDT out of the corner, but Nese counters into a Northern Lights Suplex and bridges up into the cover, but Aries kicks out.  Nese drives Aries back against the ropes with a series of Knife-edge Chops as the challenger gets back to his feet. Nese then whips Aries off into the ropes and goes for a Tilt-A-Whirl Backbreaker, but Aries counters into an Armdrag Takedown. Aries then follows up with an Enziguri to the back of the head and then plants Nese in the middle of the ring with a Brainbuster. Aries then hooks the head and flips forward into the Last Chancery and Nese is forced to submit.

Aries celebrates the victory as he is declared the winner and NEW Cruiserweight Champion and Aries takes the title for the second time and now TJ Perkins comes out to join in the celebration. This tandem has controlled the cruiserweight division together almost from the start and now with just a slight hiccup that saw Drake Maverick take the title, losing it weeks later to Tony Nese, Aries has ascended back to the top of the division.

In the back, our broadcast colleague is standing by with Toni Storm, who in moments will step into the first ever War Games match to feature all women. Storm says that nobody else in this match has the drive and determination that she does. She says the other team has a lot of size in Kelly Klein and Awesome Kong, but size isn’t everything. Toni says that she is all heart and in a match like this, the person with the biggest heart is going to win out, so when she steps in that cage, everybody had better recognize that it’s Toni Time.

Re: HWL presents Fall Brawl (09/20/19)

Back at the ring, the War Games structure is in place as Taya Valkyrie and Shayna Baszler make their entrances and enter the cage and the two-ring structure, starting things off for their respective teams.

Match #2 – War Games – Toni Storm, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss & Shayna Baszler vs. Kelly Klein, Awesome Kong, Taya Valkyrie & Allie

Baszler quickly takes Valkyrie down and puts her in a heel hook as this match gets under way and Baszler punches away at Valkyrie’s knee and this is about as brilliant a strategy to start the match as you can get, taking away your opponent’s legs while simultaneously controlling them and preventing yourself from taking any damage. Baszler continues to work over Taya’s leg from that position until the countdown winds down and now Allie comes rushing out to the rescue.  Allie hits the ring and Baszler lets Taya go and stands up in time to get laid flat by a Running Lariat from Allie. Allie then bounces off the ropes and connects with an Atomic Leg Drop.  Allie then mounts Baszler and pummels her and grabs her by the hair, slamming her head up and down in to the mat and now the clock winds down and here comes Toni Storm. Storm charges down to the ring and comes through the cage door and right up to the top turnbuckle and dives off, hitting both Allie and Taya with a Missile Dropkick.  Storm then pins Taya up in the corner and delivers a series of Knife-edge Chops to the chest and then charges across the ring where Allie has pulled herself up in the corner and Storm hits Allie with a Flying Hip Attack. The clock winds down and now Kelly Klein charges down to the ring for her team.  Klein comes in and goes for a Double Clothesline on Baszler and Storm, but they both duck and connect with a simultaneous Double Dropkick to the back. Baszler then grabs Klein by the tights and chucks her out through the cage door and sends her crashing to the floor. Baszler and Storm then go back to dominating Taya and Allie in the ring and now the countdown winds down and Alexa Bliss charges down to the ring and Bliss does a Cartwheel into a Back Elbow Smash to Klein’s face out on the floor before stepping into the cage and now she joins in as Baszler has Allie down in a Sleeper Hold and Bliss puts the boots to Allie. Storm then whips Taya across the ring and Bliss nails Taya with a Dropkick to the same knee Baszler was working over earlier, flipping her into a somersault and sending her crashing to the mat. The countdown winds down again and now here comes Awesome Kong. Kong and Klein try to get into the cage at the same time, but Bliss and Storm Dropkick the cage door into Kong’s face, knocking her off the stairs into Klein and the two of them crash to the floor together. As they get back up to their feet, Klein angrily shoves Kong and now the two women tear into each other and they were supposed to be on the same team. Instead, they brawl all the way to the back and now the final countdown winds down and Becky Lynch makes her way to the ring and the WWE foursome has a four-on-two advantage as we enter the final stage of the contest. Now the first pinfall or submission will win the match and Baszler and Lynch double team Allie over in the far ring as Baszler puts her in the Heel Hook and Lynch puts her in an Armbar.  Bliss and Storm land a Double Suplex on Taya and Bliss heads up to the top turnbuckle and connects with Twisted Bliss. She and Storm then simultaneously cover Taya for the three count and this match is over.

The foursome from WWE of Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, Toni Storm and Shayna Baszler now all have a future shot at the Women’s World Championship, which will be decided later tonight between the champion, Nikki Cross, and the challenger, Bayley.

In the back, our broadcast colleague is standing by with the new Cruiserweight Champion, Austin Aries. Aries says the fluke is over and all is right with the world. Aries says he proved that Drake Maverick and Tony Nese were just a blip on the radar and neither one ever beat him for the title in the first place. He says as far as he is concerned, they might as well be erased from the record books because they never beat him and no cruiserweight ever will.

Re: HWL presents Fall Brawl (09/20/19)

Back at ringside, it’s time for tag team action as the Undisputed Era’s Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly make their way to the ring and prepare to defend the HWL Tag Team Championship. Suicide then makes his way to the ring and we are finally going to find out who his tag team partner is and if they are not successful in winning the Tag Team titles tonight, Suicide will have to unmask.

Match #3 – HWL Tag Team Championship – Undisputed Era vs. Suicide & Mystery Partner

Suicide stops at the bottom of the rampway and waits as his music comes to a halt and we wait for his tag team partner. Suicide’s music then starts up again and his partner emerges through the curtain and we see that it is… Suicide. There are two of them now and the Undisputed Era are completely flummoxed. Suicide 1 starts off the match against Fish and Suicide goes into an Armdrag and then Dropkicks Fish in the back of the head and makes the tag to Suicide 2. The Suicides then deliver a Double Suplex and Suicide 2 goes for the cover, but Fish quickly kicks out. Suicide 2 then puts the boots to Fish and starts to pull him back to his feet and Fish fires back with a flurry of European Upper Cuts. Fish then whips Suicide into the corner and follows him in with a Flying Lariat. Fish heads up to the top turnbuckle and drives Suicide 2 into the mat with a Flying Bulldog. Fish makes the cover, but Suicide 1 comes in to break it up. O’Reilly then comes in after Suicide 1 and charges across the ring, but Suicide pulls down the top rope and drops to the mat and O’Reilly charges right out over the top rope and crashes to the floor. Suicide 1 then Springboards out over the top rope and takes O’Reilly down again out on the floor with an Asai Moonsault.  In the ring, Fish and Suicide 2 trade punches and Fish whips Suicide 2 off into the ropes, but Suicide 2 comes back with a Spinning Heel Kick to the temple, dropping Fish like a bag of potatoes. Suicide 2 then tags Suicide 1 back in and Suicide 1 comes in off the top rope and connects with a Guillotine Leg Drop and covers Fish, but O’Reilly pulls Suicide out by the boot and slams him head first into the ring post. Suicide 2 then runs along the ring apron and dives to the floor, tackling O’Reilly with what almost looks like a Rough Ryder Leg Lariat. Suicide 2 then pulls Suicide 1 up to help him regroup and the two hug and spin around and now the referee has no idea which one is the legal man. Fish now comes diving out through the middle rope at both Suicides, but they both sidestep and Fish crashes headlong into the barricade. The two Suicides then plant O’Reilly on the ring steps with a Spike Powerbomb and then throw Fish back into the ring. One of the Suicides crawls in after him and makes the cover, but Fish kicks out for a near fall.  Suicide pummels Fish, but now Fish battles back up to his feet and sends Suicide reeling with some big right hands. Fish then whips Suicide off into the ropes and connects with a Flying European Upper Cut. The other Suicide then comes in off the top rope, but dives right into a Superkick from Fish. Fish then makes the cover, but Suicide kicks out. Fish then covers the other Suicide, but he kicks out too. O’Reilly is now up on the ring apron and Fish makes the tag and the Undisputed Era nail one of the Suicides with a combination High Low attack and O’Reilly tries to put Suicide in the ARMageddon submission lock, but the other Suicide breaks it up with a Running Knee Smash to the side of the head. That Suicide then ducks a Discus Clothesline from Fish and hoists him up onto his shoulders and connects with a Death Valley Driver onto his knee and Fish rolls out to the floor. O’Reilly then knocks that Suicide down and out to the ring apron with a Roundhouse Kick to the temple.  The other Suicide then rolls O’Reilly up from behind, but O’Reilly kicks out for a near fall. Suicide then ducks another Roundhouse Kick from O’Reilly and connects with a Reverse DDT into a Backbreaker and follows up with a Rolling Cutter. Suicide then makes the tag to the other Suicide and the first Suicide hoists O’Reilly up onto his shoulder in the position for the Electric Chair as the other Suicide comes off  the top rope and connects with a Blockbuster. The legal Suicide then makes the cover on O’Reilly as the other Suicide dives out to the floor to wipe out Fish and the referee makes the three count.

The Suicides are your winners and the NEW HWL Tag Team Champions and how in the hell did this happen? These two guys, whoever they are, we don’t even know if they are under contract here. They could be absolutely anybody. We don’t know if they’ve ever been a team before. We don’t know if they’ve ever even wrestled before this. Surely, this isn’t going to be allowed to stand. Dario Cueto is going to have a lot to answer for as a result of signing this match.

In the back, we take a look inside both locker rooms as the eight men prepare for the second War Games match of the night and get pumped up.  As they come out to the communal waiting area to get ready for the coin toss to determine which team will get to send an extra member in first, they are stopped by NWA President Billy Corgan. Corgan says that nobody wants to see a repeat of the first War Games match tonight where two of the participants never made it into the cage. Thus, he says we are going to forgo the first portion of the match and turn all eight men loose in the two rings at the same time. Corgan then tells them to get their asses out there and get started.

Re: HWL presents Fall Brawl (09/20/19)

At ringside, we see the eight men from the two teams make their way to the ring and enter the War Games structure with Brian Cage, Mart Scurll, Sami Callihan and Adam Hangman Page representing the non-WWE team while Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler and Triple H represent the WWE contingent.

Match #4 – War Games – Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler & Triple H vs. Brian Cage, Marty Scurll, Sami Callihan & Hangman Page

It’s total chaos as all eight men take part in an all-out brawl as the match gets under way. In one ring, Cage is knocking around Sami Zayn and Dolph Ziggler and slams their heads together before taking Ziggler and Lawn Darting him through the wall of the cage and sending him crashing out to the floor. Reigns then charges across the ring and Spears Cage through the ropes and out the collapsed wall of the structure to land on the floor beside Ziggler. Callihan and Scurll are double teaming HHH in the other ring and now Hangman tries to set up for the Deadeye on Zayn, but Zayn counters into a Backslide for a near fall.  Zayn then ducks a Big Boot from Page and knocks him flat with a Headbutt.  Zayn now comes over to the first ring and Callihan comes over to cut him off, but Zayn hits him with an Inverted Atomic Drop. HHH then pummels Scurll with a flurry of big right hands and whips him into the corner across the ring and Zayn charges in after Scrull and connects with a Helluva Kick. Page then comes over and HHH nails him with a Double-A Spinebuster. Zayn makes the cover on Scurll, but Callihan breaks it up. Outside the ring, Reigns and Ziggler are working over Cage as the three men battle up the rampway and Ziggler helps Reigns hoist Cage up and Powerbomb him over the side of the stage and through a production table.  Reigns and Ziggler then return to the ring where Callihan has retrieved a baseball bat and slams it into Zayn’s gut and then HHH’s.  Page and Scurll then hit HHH and Zayn with tandem Piledrivers and go for the cover, but Ziggler and Reigns arrive in time to break it up. Reigns then ducks a swing from Callihan’s bat and lights him up with a Superman Punch. Ziggler knocks Scurll out with a Superkick and HHH drives Page into the mat with a Pedigree. The WWE team then toss Page and Scurll into the other ring, leaving all four of them alone with Callihan, who stumbles up to his feet into a Double Superkick from Zayn and Ziggler. The WWE team then set Callihan up for a four-man Shield style Powerbomb and Reigns cover him for the three count.

Team WWE takes the win again and now Roman Reigns, Triple H, Sami Zayn and Dolph Ziggler all have guaranteed World Heavyweight Championship matches coming their way. Whoever wins tonight’s title match between the champion, Samoa Joe, and the challenger, CM Punk, will have them to deal with over the course of the next month.

In the back, our broadcast colleague is standing by with the Women’s World Champion, Nikki Cross. Cross says this title is her best toy. She wouldn’t share with Lacey. She wouldn’t share with Havok. She wouldn’t share with Toni or Shayna or Kelly or anybody else that’s wanted to play. Nikki says she likes having all these people to play with, and tonight, she gets to play with Bayley. However, Nikki says she has some other toys she might share with Bayley tonight, but she’ll never share her best toy and she’ll break anybody that tries to take it from her.

Re: HWL presents Fall Brawl (09/20/19)

Back at ringside, Bayley and Nikki Cross make their entrances for this championship contest.

Match #5 – HWL Women’s World Championship – Nikki Cross vs. Bayley

The two women tear into each other as the match gets under way and Bayley hooks Cross around the middle and connects with the Belly-to-Bayley Suplex right out the gate, but Cross has the wherewithal to roll out under the bottom rope and escape out to the floor. Bayley goes right out after her and drags Cross up by the waistline of her pants and hurls her headlong into the barricade. Bayley then puts the boots to Cross and tosses her back in the ring.  Bayley then climbs up on the middle turnbuckle as Cross stumbles back up and looks around and Bayley dives onto her with a Lou Thesz Press into the cover, but Cross kicks out for a near fall. Bayley then lets Cross stumble back up again and grabs her around the middle to set up for another Belly-to-Bayley, but Cross fights her off with a series of Headbutts.  Cross then whips Bayley into the corner and follows her in with an Avalanche Splash. Cross follows up with a Sidewalk Slam and makes the cover, but Bayley kicks out.  Cross pummels Bayley and tries to set up for a Running Powerslam, but Bayley slips free down her back and counters into a Backslide for a near fall. Cross tackles Bayley backward into the corner and delivers a series of Knee Strikes to the gut.  Cross then follows up with a Snap Suplex and then bounces off the ropes and hits a Warrior Splash and hooks the leg, but Bayley kicks out for a near fall.  Cross drags Bayley back up by the tights and sets up for a Cactus Piledriver, but Bayley counters into a Back Body Drop. Cross stumbles back up near the ropes and Bayley Clotheslines her out over the top rope and sends her crashing out to the floor.  Bayley then climbs out onto the ring apron as Cross pulls herself up over by the barricade and Bayley dives at her, but Cross moves out of the way and propels Bayley down gut first across the top of the barricade.  Cross then drops Bayley on her head out on the floor with a Fisherman’s Neckbreaker. Cross slowly drags Bayley back up to her feet and shoves her into the ring.  Cross crawls in and struggles to roll Bayley over onto her back into the cover, but Bayley gets her foot up on the bottom rope at the last possible moment.  Cross then takes Bayley by the arms and drags her to the center of the ring and tries to pin her again, but Bayley counters into a Small Package for a near fall. Cross kicks Bayley in the gut and tries for the Fisherman’s Neckbreaker again, but Bayley spins out of it and hooks Cross around the middle. Bayley tries for the Belly-to-Bayley Suplex, but Cross counters into a rollup and hooks the tights deep and gets the three count, but gets caught by the referee, who waves it off. Cross argues with the referee and Bayley capitalizes to roll Cross up from behind and now she hooks he hand into the back waistband of Cross’ jeans and she gets the three count, unnoticed by the official and Bayley steals the win.

Bayley grabs the title and bails out of the ring and races halfway up the rampway before dropping down and fixing the back of her tights where Cross yanked them down earlier. Bayley is your winner and the NEW Women’s World Champion. Bayley hugs the title close as Cross charges around inside the ring in a rampage.

In the back, our broadcast colleague is standing by with the World Heavyweight Champion, Samoa Joe. Joe says CM Punk talks a big game about how things should have been if he was here from the start. Joe says it’s all a bunch of sunshine and rainbows and blowing smoke up his ass because the reality of the situation is that Punk wasn’t here. Joe says Punk was off doing god knows what for whatever reason instead of being here when he had every opportunity to be. Joe says that the reason Punk wasn’t here back in July when the HWL opened its doors boils down to one thing – fear. Joe says Punk was afraid to get back in that ring with an even playing field. He was afraid to fight for his spot against everybody all at once because he knew he couldn’t hack it. Instead, Joe says Punk waited while he thinned the field. Punk waited in the wings while Samoa Joe got rid of Joey Ryan. Punk watched from afar while Samoa Joe turned back the challenges of Adam Cole and Brian Cage. And now that Joe has done all the hard work, Joe says Punk wants to ride in on his white horse and steal the damn glory, but Joe says that’s not the way this works. Joe says he’s going to take CM Punk’s white horse and paint the damn thing red with his blood because when you get in the ring with Samoa Joe, one thing is certain. Joe’s Gonna Kill You.

Re: HWL presents Fall Brawl (09/20/19)

Back at the ring, CM Punk and Samoa Joe make their way to the ring for our Main Event for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Match #6 – HWL World Heavyweight Championship – Samoa Joe vs. CM Punk

Joe and Punk circle each other as the match gets under way and Joe scores with a Single-Leg Takedown.  Joe then tries for an Armbar, but Punk ties himself up in the ropes. Joe kicks Punk in the back of the neck a couple of times and then pulls him up by the tights and hurls him through the ropes in the corner, sending him crashing shoulder first into the ring post.  Joe then pulls Punk out of the corner and tries to lock in the Coquina Clutch, but Punk uses his feet to shove off from the corner and roll back over top of Joe and back up to his feet. Punk then tries for the Anaconda Vice, but Joe slips free and pulls himself out under the bottom rope, but doesn’t go down to the floor.  Joe then pulls himself back up to his feet and Punk charges across the ring and hits him with a Running Knee Smash to the side, knocking Joe off the apron and sending him crashing into the barricade out on the floor.  Punk then heads up to the top turnbuckle and dives out to the floor, taking Joe down with a Flying Crossbody. Punk then takes Joe by the tights and hurls him head first into the side of the ring steps.  Punk then drags Joe’s left hand up onto the step and stomps on his fingers. Joe rolls around on the floor in pain and Punk jumps off the ring steps and buries a Diving Elbow Drop in Joe’s chest. Punk rolls Joe back into the ring and heads up to the top turnbuckle, but Joe lunges against the ropes and crotches Punk on the top turnbuckle. Joe then tries to set up for the Muscle Buster, but Punk fights him off with a flurry of Elbow Strikes to the head and Punk hits a Tornado DDT.  Joe then struggles up to his knees and Punk connects with a Running Knee Smash to the back of the head and covers Joe, but Joe kicks out for a near fall. Punk transitions into the Anaconda Vice, but Joe ties himself up in the ropes to force a break.  Punk nails Joe with more Elbow Strikes to the head and drags him back to his feet and Joe connects with a Headbutt just above Punk’s left eye, busting the challenger open. Joe then bounces off the ropes and connects with a Running Senton and makes the cover, but Punk kicks out.  Joe connects with another Senton Splash and then tries for the Coquina Clutch, but Punk is able to twist the fingers he stomped on earlier and force Joe’s hands apart.  Punk battles back up to his feet and whips Joe into the corner and tries to follow him in for a Flying Knee in the corner, but Joe catches him coming with a Yurinagi and Punk rolls out to the ring apron. Joe then climbs out on to the apron and nails Punk with a Back Senton onto the hardest part of the ring. Joe rolls to the floor and grabs Punk by the legs and physically swings him off the ring apron, smashing the side of his head into the barricade. Joe then drives his knees down onto Punk’s chest, driving the air out of his lungs. Joe drags Punk up into a seated position on top of the barricade and then drives him to the floor with a Muscle Buster. Joe then takes the top section of the ring steps and prepares to hit Punk with them as he struggles to get back up to his knees, but the referee intervenes and while the referee is looking the other way, Punk lands a low blow on Joe. Punk then pulls Joe up onto his shoulders and delivers the GTS, but the problem is Joe is down and out on the floor and Punk has to put him back in the ring to win the title. Punk slowly drags Joe’s dead weight up and struggles to get one of his feet up onto the ring apron. Punk slowly rolls Joe up onto the apron, but doesn’t roll him in under the rope.  Punk then heads up to the top turnbuckle and goes for a Diving Elbow Drop onto the ring apron, but Joe rolls into the ring out of the way and Punk crashes elbow first onto the ring apron. Joe rolls back out to the floor and drags Punk back up to his feet and slams that same elbow into the ring post and throws Punk back into the ring. Joe rolls in after him and Punk staggers back up to his feet and Joe connects with a Package Piledriver in the middle of the ring. Joe makes the cover, but Punk kicks out for an extremely close near fall. Joe drags Punk up by the hair and toward the corner, but as he tries to hoist him up to the top turnbuckle to set up for the Muscle Buster, Punk throws a shot with his good elbow, catching Joe in the eye. Punk then shoves Joe into the referee and Joe bowls the referee over, but stops himself just short of it being a hard shot, so the referee isn’t knocked out, but he’s facing the wrong way as Punk pulls out a pair of brass knucks and cracks Joe in the back of the head. Punk then tosses  the knucks and catches Joe before he sinks limply to the mat and hoists him up into the GTS, connecting right in the middle of the ring. Punk then falls forward into the cover and the referee is able to regroup and make the three count.

CM Punk is your winner and the NEW World Heavyweight Champion. Punk collects the title and slowly pulls himself up to his feet before spitting on Samoa Joe and pushing his head to the side with his boot while holding up the title. Punk then gingerly makes his way out of the ring and to the back and It’s a new era for the HWL tonight with all four championships changing hands. Thanks for joining us tonight on Pay Per View and we’ll see you next time. Join us in October for Halloween Havoc, but for now we bid you good night.
