Pyros light up the arena for tonight’s action and we start things off with a ladder match to determine the #1 Contender for the Cruiserweight Championship as Orange Cassidy, Akira Tozawa, Alex Shelley, Rey Mysterio, Drew Gulak, Jonathan Gresham and Johnny Gargano make their way to the ring for this contest and we’ve just gotten word that there will be a special addition to this match as wrestlers can be eliminated by pinfall or submission.
 
Match #1 – Seven-man Cruiserweight No. 1 Contender’s Ladder Match
 
Things get under way and Gulak and Gargano square off in the corner only to be hit by a double Splash from Mysterio and Tozawa. Gresham and Shelley engage in a Knuckle Lock and Shelly forces Gresham to the mat, but Gresham bucks him over and counters into an Armbar and Cassidy breaks it up with a series of annoying kicks to Gresham’s head. Back on the other side of the ring, Mysterio and Tozawa set up for a Double Suplex on Gargano and Gulak, but Gargano and Gulak counter, Suplexing both Mysterio and Tozawa out over the top rope and sending them out to the floor. Gargano then tries to pull Gulak down into the Gargano Escape, but Gulak counters and connects with a series of Elbow Strikes to the gut and then follows up with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex. Cassidy then hits Gargano with a Running Dropkick to the side of the head and Gargano rolls out to the floor. Gulak then cinches Cassidy up in the Gu-Lock and forces him to tap out and Cassidy is eliminated from the match. Shelley then hits Gulak with a Running Knee Lift and then sets up for Sliced Bread No. 2, but Gulak counters and shoves Shelley out over the top rope and he crashes into Mysterio and Tozawa, taking them both out on the floor. Gargano then returns to the ring with a ladder, but is hit with an Enziguri from Gresham. Gulak then takes the ladder and smashes Gresham in the gut with it and Gresham falls back against the corner. Gulak then sets up the ladder and begins to climb, but both Gargano and Gresham cut him off. They pull Gulak off the ladder and drop him into a double set of knees to the face. Gresham and Gargano then tie up and Gresham goes to a Side Headlock. Gargano tries to counter into a Belly-to-Back Suplex, but Gresham flips over him backward and lands on his feet behind him. Gresham then trips Gargano up and tries for a Knee Bar, but Gargano pulls the ladder over and it crashes down onto Gresham. Gargano starts to pull himself back up using the ropes, but Mysterio returns to the ring and catches him unawares with the 619. Gargano stumbles back up to his feet and staggers to the middle of the ring and Mysterio goes for the West Coast Pop, but Gargano catches him with a Powerbomb onto the ladder with Gresham underneath of it. Gargano then drags Mysterio from the ladder and covers him for a three count and Mysterio is eliminated. Tozawa then returns to the ring and Gargano quickly takes him down into the Gargano Escape and Tozawa taps out and has to head to the back. Having thinned the field, Gargano now sets up the ladder again, but Gulak cuts him off before he can climb and the two trade punches back and forth. Gargano then tries to whip Gulak off into the ropes, but Gulak counters and pulls Gargano into a Short-arm Clothesline. Gulak then starts to climb the ladder, but Gargano pulls him back down and plants him with a Hammerlock DDT. Gargano then climbs one side of the ladder as Gresham starts to climb the other. The two trade punches back and forth and Gresham nearly falls, but recovers. Gresham then kicks Gargano in the face and swings his leg up over the top of the ladder to sit on the top and Gargano nearly falls, but is able to hang on. While this is going on, Shelley gets back in the ring as Gulak regains his feet and Shelley kicks him in the gut. Shelley then takes Gulak down into a Crossface Submission. Gulak wavers on tapping out, but decides against it as he tries to break Shelley’s grip unsuccessfully. On top of the ladder, Gargano hits Gresham with Elbow Strikes to the head, but then Gresham captures an arm and applies a Triangle Choke, hanging backward from one side of the ladder as Gargano stands on the  rungs on the other side, bent over at the waist across the top of the ladder. On the mat, Gulak kicks off from the ladder, forcing his way back over top of Shelley and pinning Shelley underneath of him and in the process the ladder slowly starts to topple over and crashes hard to the mat with Gargano and Gresham crashing into the ropes and they may both be out permanently as they roll to the floor and are swarmed by medical attention. In the ring, Gulak has Shelley pinned beneath him for a three count and Shelley is eliminated. With Gargano and Gresham both down and out, there’s nobody left to get in Gulak’s way as he resets the ladder and climbs to the top and grabs the contract.
 
Gulak advances to challenge for the cruiserweight championship at Fall Brawl and we know just have to hope that Gargano and Gresham are okay after that terrible tumble from the ladder as we go to commercial break.
 
 
Back from the break, the women’s division is in action as Hikaru Shida and Jessamyn Duke make their entrances.
 
Match #2 – Hikaru Shida vs. Jessamyn Duke
 
The match gets under way and the two women tie-up and Duke lands a few Moi-tai Knees and then tries to whip Shida into the corner, but Shida counters and whips her into the corner instead and then follows her in with a Flying Knee Smash to the face and Duke is already out on her feet as Shida follows up with a Running Bulldog. Shida then drags Duke back to her feet and follows up with the Falcon Arrow and covers her for the three count.
 
Shida makes her way to the back and that match was over with so quickly, we’re going to forgo a break between the match and jump right into the next contest and it’s a big one as the winner scores the numbers advantage in War Games, meaning their second and third man to enter the match will enter before any other team’s second or third men, so the numbers will always be in their favor until the last man enters. John Cena, JBL, Adam Cole and Finn Balor each make their entrances.
 
Match #3 – Fatal 4-Way – John Cena vs. JBL vs. Adam Cole vs. Finn Balor
 
The match gets under way, but immediately Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan arrive and pull Balor out of the ring and send him crashing headlong into the ring steps. Alex Shelley and AJ Styles now come charging down to the ring and Styles takes down Rollins with a Flying Phenomenal Forearm while Shelley and Bryan trade knees and punches. JBL yells at them to leaves his guys alone, but then Styles trips JBL up and pulls him out to the floor and the nWo-MAGA Powers brawl continues on the floor as Cole and Cena look on in amusement. Cena then comes up behind Cole, spins him around and hoists him up and hits the F-U and makes the cover for the three count.
 
Cena scores the win and Evolution will have the man advantage at War Games and with multiple teams, Cole and the Undisputed Era will now have the biggest disadvantage as their reinforcements will always be the last to enter the match. In the back, our broadcast colleague is standing by with the NWA Tag Team Champions, Eli Drake and James Storm. Drake said he must have ruffled some feathers in the back already, but that’s what he does is ruffle feathers. That’s how he makes this company money. That’s what the people tune in to see. They want to see the Namer of Dummies do what his name says and name the dummies. That includes every tag team they’re facing in this match because you have to be a dummy to stand in the way of the Gravy Train. And if any of them don’t like getting called dummies, then those buttercups better buckle up because we’re just getting started. Storm chimes in with a Sorry About Your Damn Luck and we owe you a quick word from our sponsors. When we come back, it’s a battle royal to determine the No. 1 Contenders for the Tag Team Titles.
 
 
Back from the break, the ring has filled up with Breezango, New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Big E, The Goodbrothers and Cesaro and Nakamura of the MAGA Powers. Storm and Drake, Miz and Morrison and lastly Fish and O’Reilly of the Undisputed Era then make their way to the ring and both members of a team will have to be eliminated for that team to be out of this match. The last man standing earns the title shot for his team.
 
Match #4 – Tag Team No. 1 Contenders Battle Royal
 
Things stand still as Miz and Cesaro meet in the middle of the ring. Miz offers a handshake and Cesaro takes it and Miz tries to use the grip to pull Cesaro into some tandem offense from Morrison, but Cesaro counters and takes Miz by the arm pit and drags him to the ropes and chucks him right out over the top and sends him crashing to the floor and now for his team to win, Morrison will have to go it alone. The fur starts flying now as the brawl is on and it doesn’t take long to get more eliminations as Drake and Storm toss out both members of New Day. The Goodbrothers sense weakness and charge Morrison near the ropes, but Morrison ducks out of the way and pulls down the top rope and both Gallows and Anderson charge right out over the top and crash to the floor. Cesaro and Nakamura are squaring off with Breezango and Fish and O’Reilly come up behind both teams and dump all four men out over the top rope and out to the floor and now we just have Morrison, Storm and Drake and Fish and O’Reilly left standing. Fish and O’Reilly lobby to Storm and Drake to take Morrison out 4-on-1, but Storm shakes his head and hits Fish with the Last Call. O’Reilly then goes after both Drake and Morrison with a flurry of kicks and while they’re preoccupied, Morrison picks Fish up and tosses him out over the top for the elimination. Storm and Drake now have the advantage on O’Reilly and then have him teetering on the top rope and Morrison comes up behind them and dumps everybody out over the top rope and Drake and Storm both hit the floor, but O’Reilly hangs on and lands on the ring apron. Morrison celebrates like he’s won, but O’Reilly returns to the ring behind him and takes Morrison by the tights and chucks him out over the top rope and Morrison bounces off the ring apron and crashes to the floor, but he lands on his hands. His feet never touch as he does a Handstand on the floor and now O’Reilly is not paying attention as he celebrates and Morrison walks backward on his hands to the ring steps and rights himself before climbing back into the ring. Morrison walks up behind O’Reilly and taps him on the shoulder and O’Reilly slowly turns around and Morrison kicks him in the gut and takes him for a Moonlight Drive. Morrison then follows up with Starship Pain and O’Reilly slowly stumbles back up to his feet and Morrison takes him by the back of the neck and helps him out over the top rope the hard way, sending him careening to the floor for the final elimination.
 
Miz and Morrison are the winners, advancing to challenge for the tag team titles at Fall Brawl. In the back, our broadcast colleague is standing by with Big Sugar, who announces that we now know which War Games team will have the numbers advantage and which will have the numbers disadvantage at Fall Brawl, but that leaves yet to be decided which team will have the right to enter the War Games match second in each round of entries and which will enter third. We’re going to figure that out next week when JBL takes on Finn Balor and to make sure we don’t have a repeat of tonight’s fiasco, that match is going to take place in a Steel Cage. With that announcement, it’s time for our final commercial break of the night. Tomasso Ciampa defends the Television Championship in our Main Event, coming up next.
 
Match #5 – HWL Television Championship – Tomasso Ciampa vs. MJF
 
The match gets under way and Ciampa sends MJF reeling with big right hands. Ciampa then boots him in the gut and sets up for a DDT, but MJF counters into an Atomic Drop. MJF then bounces off the ropes, but runs right into a Big Boot to the face from Ciampa. Ciampa goes for the cover, but MJF kicks out. Ciampa pummels MJF and then starts to drag him back to his feet, but MJF shoves Ciampa toward the referee, who has to duck and cover. Ciampa turns back to MJF and catches a thumb to the eye before the referee can turn his attention back. MJF then rolls Ciampa up in an Inside Cradle for a near fall. MJF punishes Ciampa with a series of Forearm Shivers to the face as he keeps Ciampa down on the mat and then tries to lock in the Salt of the Earth Fujiwara Arm Bar, but Ciampa counters and rolls through into a pinning combination for a near fall. Ciampa then boots MJF in the gut again and connects with a Cactus Piledriver. Ciampa makes the cover, but MJF gets his boot on the bottom rope. Ciampa drags MJF back up into position for another Piledriver, but MJF counters into a Back Body Drop out over the top rope and Ciampa hangs onto the rope to keep from crashing to the floor, but the side of his knee bangs hard off the ring apron and as he pulls himself back up to his feet on the apron he has a noticeable limp. MJF spots it right away and dives through the ropes, driving his shoulder into that knee and MJF drops to the floor and lands hard with a thud, but he does untold damage to Ciampa’s knee in the process as Ciampa drops down to a seated position on the ring apron, obviously in horrendous pain. MJF climbs up onto the ring apron beside him and stomps repeatedly on that knee and Ciampa raps himself up in the ropes, forcing the referee to admonish MJF with a five count and MJF stops just short of getting himself disqualified and returns to the ring. Ciampa struggles mightily to get upright again and tries to step back through the ropes, but MJF knees him in the face. MJF then follows up with the Heat Seeker and makes the cover for the three count.
 
MJF is your winner and the NEW Television Champion. MJF has struck gold here tonight and he lets everyone know about it as he gets right up nose to lens with the camera to tell everyone just how good he is as we go off the air.
