HWL Overdrive Episode #8 (08/21/19)

Pyros light up the HWL Arena in St. Louis as we bring you yet another edition of HWL Overdrive and we are starting off right away with cruiserweight action as Jack Gallagher and TJ Perkins make their entrances for this opening contest.

Match #1 – TJ Perkins vs. Jack Gallagher

The two men square off as the match gets under way and Gallagher offers a handshake. Perkins takes it, but immediately double crosses Gallagher and slaps him across the face. Gallagher retaliates with a Headbutt and Perkins drops the mat and rolls out to the floor. Gallagher offers to hold the ropes for Perkins to get back in, but Perkins wants no part of it and storms around the ring to climb back in the other side. The two men square off again and Perkins tries to shoot in and grab a leg, but Gallagher knees him in the face. Gallagher then pins Perkins in a Backslide, but Perkins kicks out. Perkins pops back up and connects with a Dropkick to the point of the jaw and follows up with a rapid series of Elbow Drops. Perkins then heads up to the top rope, but Gallagher cuts him off with a series of punches to the side of the head. Gallagher climbs up to the top rope after Perkins and sets up for a Superplex, but Perkins blocks it and rakes his eyes. Perkins then jumps over Gallagher, who is stooped over and connects with a Sunset Powerbomb from the top rope. Perkins then hoists Gallagher onto his shoulders and follows up with a Detonation Kick into the cover for the three count.

Perkins celebrates his victory as he and buddy Austin Aries continue to control the Cruiserweight division. In the back we see Lacey Evans dejectedly arriving at the arena and walking in toward her locker room. Dario Cueto is waiting outside her locker room, holding a robe. Cueto says they have a top notch spa staff here tonight specifically to tend to Lacey’s every need throughout the show because he wants her looking her best and feeling her best when she goes out to that ring. Cueto says then at the end of the night, Lacey is going to have to pay the piper and live up to her end of the contract she signed for Heatwave. Cueto says we are going to wait for that until the end of the night to give everybody watching at home ample time to get their kids to bed and when the time comes to change the channel if they don’t want to see what’s about to happen. Then, Cueto says he wants Lacey to come out to the ring wearing just that robe and she’s going to have to take it off in front of everybody. Cueto ends with a chuckle and Lacey reluctantly takes the robe and enters into the locker room, followed by a couple of female staff members to take care of her hair, nails, make-up and whatever else she needs. Our broadcast team says they can’t believe Cueto is making her go through with this and continue to run down his morals as we go to commercial break.

Re: HWL Overdrive Episode #8 (08/21/19)

Back from the break, tag team action is coming up as The B Team and Forgotten Sons’ Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler make their entrances for this next contest.

Match #2 – The B Team vs. Forgotten Sons

Axel and Cutler start things off as the match gets under way and Axel overpowers Cutler and shoves him down on his ass. Blake takes exception and comes in and gets in Axel’s face. Dallas comes in on all fours behind Blake and Axel shoves him backward over Dallas’ back and Blake crashes hard on the mat.  Cutler comes up swinging, but Axel ducks and connects with an Atomic Drop  and Cutler, favoring his groin, turns right into a Spear from Dallas. Dallas then Clotheslines Blake out of the ring and Axel pulls Cutler up and finishes him off with a Perfect Plex, bridging up into the cover and picking up the three count.

The B Team celebrates their win and in the back our broadcast colleague is standing by with CM Punk, who returned to professional wrestling at Heatwave, attacking both Sting and the Undertaker. Punk will face both men, as well as Dustin Rhodes, fresh off a win over Dolph Ziggler at Heatwave, in a Fatal 4-Way Match with a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship match at Fall Brawl next month on Pay Per View on the line. Punk says that he knows everybody is waiting on baited breath to see what he is going to say next, but he said everything he needed to at Heatwave. Now, he says it’s time to do his talking in that ring. Punk then stalks off and we cut to commercial break.

Re: HWL Overdrive Episode #8 (08/21/19)

Back from the break, we are about to crown a new #1 Contender for Nikki Cross’s Women’s World Championship as Madison Rayne, Bayley and Jessica Havok make their entrances for this Triple Threat Match.

Match #3 - #1 Contender’s Triple Threat Match – Jessica Havok vs. Bayley vs. Madison Rayne

The three women square off as the bell rings and the match gets under way. Havok plows right over top of both opponents with a Double Clothesline to get things started. She then follows up with a big splash onto Rayne and makes the cover, but Bayley breaks it up. Bayley knocks Havok back against the ropes with a series of Forearm Shivers and then tries to whip her across the ring, but Havok counters and pitches Bayley out over the top rope and Bayley bounces off the ring apron and out to the floor. Havok then pins Rayne against the corner and delivers a big Open-hand Chop across the chest. Havok then Hip Tosses Rayne half way across the ring, sending her crashing to the mat with a big thud. Havok then follows up with a Sommersault Leg Drop and makes the cover, but Bayley comes back in off the top rope and hits Havok with a Diving Elbow Drop to the back of the neck, breaking up the pin. Havok then staggers back up to her feet and Bayley connects with a Bayley-to-Belly Suplex onto Rayne and Havok rolls out to the floor as Bayley dives into the cover on Rayne and hooks the leg and picks up the three count.

Bayley celebrates her victory as she is locked in to challenge the Women’s World Champion for the title at Fall Brawl. In the back, we see Lacey Evans in her dressing room, wearing the robe she received from Cueto as she sits in front of a mirror and talks on the phone while having her hair done and receiving a pedicure. Evans says she can’t go through with this tonight, presumably talking to her lawyer. She says she’s going to be physically ill if her legal team can’t find her a way out of this. She says they better have good news for her soon because there are only a few matches left and then they are going to make her go out there. Evans apparently doesn’t like what she hears in response as she screams into the phone and then chucks it across the room and yells at everybody to get out. Our camera and the staff oblige and exit as we cut to commercial break.

Re: HWL Overdrive Episode #8 (08/21/19)

Back from that word from our sponsors, it’s a match-up of two champions as Impact Wrestling Heavyweight Champion Brian Cage and NJPW Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada make their entrances for this next match.

Match #4 – Brian Cage vs. Kazuchika Okada

The two men tie-up as the match gets under way and Cage gets the advantage, forcing Okada back against the ropes. Cage allows a clean break and retreats back to the middle of the ring. Okada comes back to the center and the two men tie-up again. Cage starts to force Okada back again, but Okada drops down into a Drop Toe-hold, dropping Cage on his face. Okada then bounces off the ropes and connects with a Running Dropkick. Okada then heads up to the top rope as Cage stumbles back up to his feet and Okada goes for a Flying Crossbody, but Cage catches him out of mid-air and then Bodyslams him to the mat. Cage follows up with a Running Senton and Okada rolls out under the bottom rope and pulls himself back to his feet on the ring apron. Cage comes over to get Okada, but Okada connects with a big Forearm Shot.  Okada then catapults back into the ring, looking for a Sunset Flip, but Cage blocks it and sits down on Okada in a pinning combination, but Okada kicks out for a near fall. Both men rush back up to their feet and Okada lays in a Big Chop, but Cage shrugs it off and hurls Okada into the corner where he delivers a series of Shoulder Thrusts to the gut. Cage then pulls Okada out of the corner and sets up for a Running Powerslam, but Okada slips free down the back and lands on his feet, grabbing Cage by the wrist. Okada tries for the Rainmaker, but is stopped short by a big right hand from Cage. Cage then levels Okada with a Discus Clothesline and then stands back as Okada stumbles back up. Cage hoists him up and delivers the Drill Claw and makes the cover for the three count.

Cage celebrates as he picks up the victory in a match you could not have seen anywhere else but in the HWL. In the back we see a split screen with our four potential contenders, Dustin Rhodes, The Undertaker, Sting and CM Punk all going through their final preparations. The #1 Contender’s Match is coming up next after this commercial break.

Re: HWL Overdrive Episode #8 (08/21/19)

Back from the break, it’s Main Even time as Dustin Rhodes, CM Punk, Sting and The Undertaker make their entrances for this #1 Contender’s Match with a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship at Fall Brawl on the line.

Match #5 – #1 Contender’s Fatal 4-Way Match – CM Punk vs. Sting vs. The Undertaker vs. Dustin Rhodes

The four men face off from across the ring as the match gets under way and Punk rolls out to the floor while inviting the other three to start the party without him. Instead, Sting and Undertaker both exit opposite sides of the ring and walk around, trapping Punk between them. Punk tries to escape over the barricade, but Undertaker and Sting catch him together and hurl him lower back first into the side of the ring. Undertaker then hoists Punk up and drops him Snake Eyes style down across the top of the barricade and Sting knocks him flat with a Short-arm Clothesline. Sting and Undertaker then throw Punk back into the ring where he stumbles back up this feet and walks into the Bionic Elbow from Rhodes. Rhodes dives into the cover, but Sting pulls Rhodes out by the boot to the floor to break up the cover. Rhodes blasts Sting with an Upper Cut and then turns around and is goozled by Undertaker, who Chokeslams Dustin out on the floor. Sting then comes flying in and hits Undertaker with a Stinger Splash, pinning Undertaker between Sting and the ring post with the impact and Undertaker drops down to one knee. Sting then drops him out on the floor with the Scorpion Death Drop. Sting rolls back into the ring and walks right into a big Roundhouse Kick from Punk. Punk then hoists Sting up into position for the GTS, but Sting fights him off with a series of Elbows to the side of the head. Sting then drops down behind Punk and connects with the Scorpion Death Drop. Rhodes comes into the ring in time to stop the cover and sends Sting reeling with a couple of Rhodes Family Upper Cuts. Rhodes then sets up for the Final Cut, but Sting counters into a Facebreaker and Rhodes stumbles backward into the corner. Sting then charges in and hits a Stinger Splash and Clotheslines Rhodes out over the top rope and out to the floor. Undertaker is back in the ring behind Sting and as Sting turns around, Undertaker goozles him and connects with a Chokeslam and Sting rolls out to the ring apron. Undertaker turns his attention to Punk, who has gotten back up to his feet and Undertaker nails him with a Big Boot to the side of the head. Undertaker then hoists Punk up for a Tombstone Piledriver, but Punk slips free down the back and shoves Undertaker toward the ropes where he connects head to head with Sting, knocking Sting to the floor. Rhodes, back up on the ring apron, gets nailed by a big right hand out of a spinning Undertaker, seemingly out of instinct and drops to the floor. Undertaker turns back to Punk with his hands up in a striking position and Punk nails him in the exposed mid-section with a Thrust Kick. Punk then hoists Undertaker up and connects with the GTS into the cover for the three count.

Punk is your number one contender and he celebrates his victory as he makes his way to the back. Back stage, we see Lacey Evans reluctantly making her way out of her dressing room and she is escorted toward the ring by HWL security. Ladies and gentlemen, viewer discretion is advised for this final part of our program. Unfortunately, this final segment is scheduled to contain footage that may be unsuitable to some viewers. When we come back, Lacey Evans is going to have to disrobe live in front of the HWL audience and those watching around the world. We’ll be back after this final word from our sponsors.

Re: HWL Overdrive Episode #8 (08/21/19)

Back from our final commercial break of the night, it’s time for Lacey Evans to pay the piper as she slowly makes her way to the ring, flanked by HWL security with Dario Cueto bringing up the rear. Lacey slowly climbs the steps up into the ring and stands there with her head down and her arms wrapped around her shoulders. Cueto gets on the microphone and says the time has come. He says on Lacey’s word as a lady and on the contract she signed for Heatwave, she agreed to do this if she did not defeat Nikki Cross for the Women’s World Championship and she did not get the job done. Cueto says she will now have to take off that robe and live up to her end of the bargain. Cueto puts the microphone down, but Lacey doesn’t make a move to oblige. Cueto picks the microphone up and says she needs to do it now, that she doesn’t want this to end up in court with her being sued for breach of contract. Cueto says he was a reasonable man and didn’t make Lacey disrobe immediately at Heatwave after what she went through the hands of Jessica Havok, but the time to fulfill their agreement is now. Lacey slowly looks up into the camera and begins to untie her robe. Suddenly a smile breaks out across her face as she takes off the robe and we see that she was wearing a two-piece swimsuit underneath it. Lacey then picks up the mic Cueto left on the ring apron and says you fools are out of your mind if you though she was actually going to show off her naked body for them to ogle tonight. Lacey says that was never on the table and that Dario Cueto can go ahead and sue her for breach of contract because she didn’t lose that match at Heatwave and her lawyers can outargue the fine print in court. Additionally, Lacey says she can also sue for sexual harassment and for creation of an unsafe workplace and she’s going to do just that and she’s going to win and none of you will ever get to see all that she has to offer, which is reserved for her husband and her husband only. Cueto gets another microphone and says he was afraid that Lacey would reneg on their agreement tonight, so he brought somebody here to make sure she lived up to the deal. The crowd then pops with a huge ovation as Becky Lynch slides into the ring behind Evans. Lacey slowly turns around and comes face to face with Lynch and Evans takes a wild swing in desperation, but Lynch catches her by the arm and pulls her down into the Dis-Arm-Her. Becky cranks back on the arm, neutralizing Lacey with her face down in the mat and Lacey desperately grabs for the ropes and pounds the mat, but nothing is going to get her out of this predicament. Securing Lacey’s right arm with one hand, Lynch plays to the crowd with a smug smile and reaches back and begins to start untying Lacey’s bikini top as Lacey screams no, that this is harassment, that’s its illegal, that her rights are being violated, but none of it stops Lynch as she successfully unties both the top and bottom strings on the bikini top and pulls it free. Lynch tosses the bikini top over the middle rope where it dangles and then uses both hands to cinch the Dis-Arm-Her back in harder as Evans squeals with pain and tries to use her other hand to keep her exposed upper half covered. Lynch then calls for a little help and the crowd pops again as Paige’s music hits. After Lacey’s disparaging comments about Paige last month going into their match on the very first Overdrive, Paige has a vested interest in the situation and has a big smile on her face as she makes her way down the ramp and Cueto motions toward the ring as he steps aside, offering to let her do the honors. Paige slowly climbs up into the ring as Evans shakes her head frantically and pleads with Paige not to do it. Paige mocks crying for Lacey as she rubs her knuckles under her eyes and tells Lacey that she deserves this. Paige then reaches down and hooks a couple fingers through both sides of the waistband of Lacey’s bikini bottom. Paige smiles and plays to the crowd and then gradually begins to tug downward, removing the bottoms from Lacey’s hips, continuing to pull them down off her now exposed gluteal region, then sliding down to her thighs, passing her knees and then her calves before arriving at her ankles where Paige pulls them free over Lacey’s high heels. Paige then twirls the bikini bottoms around one finger before slingshotting them out over the top rope and into the crowd. Lacey, now stripped fully bare, cries and pounds the mat in frustration. Paige then takes a pair of handcuffs from Cueto and Paige and Becky hold her down as Lacey tries frantically to squirm free, kicking off her heels in the process, but to no avail as they handcuff her hands behind her back. Paige and Becky then drag Lacey over to the side of the ring and roll out to the floor, pulling her out after them. Lacey tries to drop down to the floor in an attempt to cover up her nudity, but Paige and Becky hold her upright and proceed to frog march her around the ring. After two laps around the ring, they uncuff Lacey and let her drop to the floor. Lacey uses the ring apron to cover herself as best she can as she reaches into the ring and retrieves her robe, putting it on before dropping back to the floor and curling up in a ball as we go off the air.
