HWL Overdrive Episode #4 (07/24/19)

Pyros erupt from the stage at the HWL Arena as we welcome you tonight to our latest episode of HWL Overdrive and tonight we are just 72 hours away from HWL's first major event, Inauguration, live from our nation's capital where the first four champions in the company will be decided as our inaugural championship tournaments all come to a close. In addition to the four title matches, we have a dream match from the tag team division between Guerillas of Destiny and the Lucha Brothers, we have an epic women's encounter between Rhea Ripley and Charlotte Flair, we have a triple threat match with three of the most highly renowned workers in the business — AJ Styles, Seth Rollins and Kenny Omega, and we we have one team out for justice in an epic 6-Man Tag Team encounter as the Hung Bucks re-unite to take on Villain Enterprises.

All of that comes your way Saturday on Pay Per View, but tonight on Overdrive, we're kicking things off with a big of a preview of that six-man tag match as Marty Scurll makes his way to the ring along with PCO and Brody King from Villain Enterprises. Hangman Page makes his way to the ring next and he's not coming alone as Matt and Nick Jackson, the Young Bucks, bring up the rear.

Match #1 - Hangman Page vs. Marty Scurll

The two men square off as the match gets under way and they engage in a Greco-Roman Knuckle-lock and press their chests against each other as they try to gain leverage over the other. Hangman is able to overpower Scurll and back him into the corner and delivers a big Open-hand Chop across the chest. Page then airmails Scurll across the ring with a huge Hip Toss and Scurll crashes to the mat with a thud and then retreats out to the floor. However, Scurll neglects to check which side of the ring he's rolling out to and ends up stumbling backward right into the Young Bucks. Scurll turns around and starts to beg off from the Bucks until PCO and King can arrive to help out and as PCO and King come in from other sides, both run into Superkicks from the Bucks. Scurll then turns back to the ring only to be taken out by Page coming off the ring apron with a Running Shooting Star Press to the floor. Page then throws Scurll back into the ring and now PCO and King have both got ahold of the Bucks and Page nails PCO with a Superkick to the knee and then does the same to King, allowing the Bucks to plant both King and PCO out on the rampway with a pair of DDTs. Page then gets back into the ring where he catches a boot to the face from Scurll and Marty does a little dance and calls for the Chicken Wing. Scurll goes for his signature hold, but Page counters into a Jawbreaker and then bounces off the ropes and nearly turns Scurll inside out with a Running Lariat. Page then starts to set Scurll up, but Scurll thumbs him in the eye and rolls him up in a Small Package for a near fall. Scurll then nails Page with a Thrust Kick to the gut and bounces off the ropes, but runs right into a Big Boot from Page, who follows up with a Spinning Sit-out Spinebuster. Out on the floor, PCO and King have re-instigated a brawl with the Young Bucks and now Page goes up to the top rope and dives out onto all four men, laying them all out. Scurll then comes flying over the top rope and takes down Page with a Tope Con Helo. Scurll quickly chucks Page back into the ring and heads up to the top rope, but Page nails him in the side of the head with a Superkick before he can reach the top rope. Page then pulls Scurll in over the top rope into an Alabama Slam position and then drops him right on his head with the Dead Eye and makes the cover for the three count.

The Hung Bucks celebrate as Page kicks things off tonight with a victory, but we'll see what happens when all six men are unleashed on Saturday. Still to come tonight, a lot is riding on our Main Event where seven men will square off in an Over the Top Rope Battle Royal and the winner will earn a future shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. Stay tuned as we take you now to a word from our sponsors.

Re: HWL Overdrive Episode #4 (07/24/19)

Back from the break, a mysterious video plays showing a shadowy figure moving through the darker recessed of the arena. A message reads, “7.27.2019,” and then below that “He Comes Alive.”

Back at the ring, TJ Perkins and Mark Haskins make their entrances for this next contest.

Match #2 - TJ Perkins vs. Mark Haskins

The two men square off as the match gets under way and Haskins fends Perkins off with a series of kicks to the thigh. Haskins then gets ahold of Perkins’ wrist and bends it back behind TJP’s head, forcing him over backward and down to the mat where he stomps on his fingers. Haskins then bounces off the ropes and hits TJP with a Running Dropkick to the side of the head. Haskins goes for the cover, but Perkins shoots his shoulder up. Haskins quickly transitions, looking for a Crossface, but Perkins rolls through and back to his feet where he hits Haskins with a Facebreaker. TJP then follows up with an Enziguri and then a Dropkick to the knee, pitching Haskins down face first into the middle turnbuckle. TJP then charges across the ring to get a running start and comes running back and nails Haskins in the back of the head with a Double Flying Knee Smash to the back of the head in the corner. TJP follows up with the Detonation Kick and makes the cover for the three count.

TJP celebrates his first HWL win as he makes his way to the back and we send you to another word from our sponsors.

Re: HWL Overdrive Episode #4 (07/24/19)

Back from the break, tag team action is up next as OvE’s Dave and Jake Crist and Cryme Tyne’s JTG and Shad Gaspard make their entrances.

Match #3 - Cryme Tyme vs OvE

JTG and Jake Crist start things off and JTG quickly works in a wristlock, but Jake counters with a couple elbows to the side of the head and follows up with a Scoop Slam. Jake then follows up with a Leg Drop and makes the cover, but JTG kicks out.  Jake makes the tag to Dave and OvE sets up for a Double Suplex, but JTG blocks it and rams their heads together with the old Double-noggin Knocker. JTG then hurls Jake out over the top rope and sends him crashing out to the floor and makes the tag to Shad. Shad comes in and flattens Dave with a Running Boot to the schnoz and JTG takes flight through the ropes to tackle Jake out on the floor with a Suicide Dive. JTG the quickly rolls back in the ring as Shad hoists Dave up into position and Cryme Tyme hits the G9 and picks up the three count.

Cryme Tyme celebrates their first televised tag team victory in nearly a decade as they put one in the win column tonight and make their way to the back.

A video then plays back some of the comments from participants in tonight’s battle royal main event. That match isn’t far away now as we take you to this commercial break. Women’s action when we come back.

Re: HWL Overdrive Episode #4 (07/24/19)

Back from those words from our sponsors, women’s action is coming up next as Alexa Bliss and Angelina Love make their way to the ring for this next contest.

Match #4 - Alexa Bliss vs. Angelina Love

The two women tie up and Angelina takes control with a Side Headlock. Bliss shoves Love off into the ropes and knocks her down with a Shoulder Block. Bliss follows up with both knees down across Love’s back. Bliss then hooks both legs and turns Love over into a Boston Crab, but now the rest of The Allure hits the ring and Velvet Sky grabs Bliss by the hair and drives her face first into the mat with a Bulldog and the referee calls for a disqualification.

Mandy Leon, Velvet Sky and Angelina Love Triple team Bliss, working her over with punishing kicks as Bliss tries to curl up in defense and now Nikki Cross comes charging out to the ring and takes Leon down with a Double-leg Tackle  and pummels her with a flurry of haymakers until Velvet and Angelina lull her off and Velvet tries to hold Nikki’s arms behind her back, but Nikki bites at her fingers and pulls herself free. Now here comes Kelly Klein charging down to the ring, always eager to get a piece of The Allure, but with the numbers advantage now evaporated, The Allure takes a powder and retreats to the back. Cross and Klein now come face to face and we are looking at two-thirds of the championship equation for this Saturday. In the back, we see Lacey Evans watching this showdown between her two opponents and only has one word to say, “Nasty.” Klein and Cross continue to exchange words in the ring and we take our final commercial break of the night.

Re: HWL Overdrive Episode #4 (07/24/19)

Back from the break and we are staying live with the action in the ring now until the end of the show as the ring begins filling up for our Main Event as R-Truth, Adam Cole, Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles and Brian Cage make their entrances. Roman Reigns is the last to make his way to the ring and the rest of the wrestlers warily give way, allowing Reigns and Cage to own the center of the ring as we prepare to get under way.

Match #5 - #1 Contender’s Battle Royal

Reigns and Cage trade haymakers as we get this Battle Royal under way. Cole squares off with Ziggler in one corner and Truth grapples with Styles on the other side of the ring. This leaves Owens without a dance partner and Owens interrupts Reigns and Cage and flips then both the bird. Owens then kicks Cage in the gut and goes for a Stunner, but Cage swats him away and Owens crashes down onto his ass. Owens then gets up to his feet and dusts himself off before acting like it never happened. He then kicks Reigns in the gut and goes for a Stunner there, but again he can’t hit it and Roman shoves Owens into a decapitating Lariat from Cage. As Owens staggers back up, Roman nails him with a Superman Punch and before he can go down, Cage grabs him around the back of the neck and pitches him out over the top rope and out to the floor and Owens becomes our first casualty. Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly now charge down to the ring and Fish distracts the referee as O’Reilly also jumps up on the apron and drills Ziggler with a Roundhouse Kick to the back of the head over the ropes, allowing Cole to take advantage as O’Reilly drops back to the floor and wanders away from the situation and Fish let’s the referee go in time for him to witness Cole dumping Ziggler out over the top and to the floor. On the other side of the ring, Styles has the advantage on Truth and dumps him out to the ring apron, but Truth hangs on and pops Styles with a Forearm Shiver and slips back in. Reigns and Cage continue to pound on each other in the middle of the ring and now Reigns forces Cage back into the corner, but Cage turns the tables and jams a big forearm across Reigns throat as he tries to use his other arm to pick up a leg and try to leverage Roman up and over. Now Cole comes over and tries to dump Cage out from behind, but with no success. Cage swats him away and Cole stumbles into a Spinning Elbow Smash from Truth. Styles then nails Truth with a Pele Kick and hurls him out over the top rope, but Truth hangs on and skins the cat back in. Cage now gives up on Reigns and flattens Styles with a Discus Lariat. Now cage puts Cole up in a Gorilla Press and Fish and O’Reilly come in to the rescue as officials charge down the ring, looking to get them out of the match, but Reigns takes care of it himself with a Superman Punch to Fish and then a Spear on O’Reilly and the two intervening members of Undisputed Era both roll out to the floor. Cage then pitches Cole into Reigns and Reigns catches him and Cage Sparta kicks Cole in the back, flattening Reigns on the other end. Truth and Styles now join forces though and both quickly hook a leg on Cage and they dump him out over the top rope and to the floor where he is eliminated. Truth and Styles then decide it worked so well the first time, they’ll try it again on Reigns, but Reigns fights them off and drives Styles down onto Cole with a Samoan Drop. Reigns then sends sweat and spit flying when he clicks Truth with a big Upper Cut, lofting Truth our over the top rope and dropping him out to the ring apron where Truth manages to hang on until Reigns connects with a Superman Punch, knocking Truth to the floor for the elimination.  Cole then springboards off the ropes and nails Reigns in the side of the head with a Missile Dropkick. Styles follows up with a Pele Kick on Reigns and Cole and Styles eliminate Reigns with a tandem Clothesline our over the top rope and to the floor, leaving just Cole and Styles. Fish and O’Reilly are now back in the ring with steel chairs but now here come Gallows and Anderson running down the ramp to the rescue. The chairs are sent flying as the six men square off and one chair flies out to the floor while the other lands in the middle of the ring. Gallows and Anderson chase Fish and O’Reilly our of the ring and to the back as Styles gets the upper hand on Cole and connects with a Pele Kick. Styles then sets up for the Styles Clash, but Cole fights out of it and Back Body Drops Styles out over the top rope, but Styles lands on the ring apron. Cole tried to knock Styles to the floor but Styles fights him off and lands a Springboard Knee to the side of the head, sending Cole sprawling backward toward the middle of the ring. Styles then goes for the Phenomenal Flying Forearm, but as he springs up to the top rope, Cole gets ahold of the chair left in the ring and girls it into Styles’ face, knocking him back to the ring apron. Cole then follows up with a Superkick, knocking Styles from the apron and to the floor for the final elimination and the win.

Adam Cole is your winner and he will be waiting on the other side of Inauguration to face the World Heavyweight Champion in a future title match. But will he be hunting Tomasso Ciampa or Joey Ryan for that title opportunity after this Saturday? Tune in only on Pay Per View to find out.
